GMSA is well known for our ability to teach a 2-day workshop on the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens to high school students with disabilities. Our workshop is based on Sean Covey’s popular self-help book for youth, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens. GMSA adapted the training to be easy to understand, building in hands-on activities with lots of role-plays. The 7 Habits provides building blocks to teach students real steps to take charge of their lives and to develop leadership skills.
Our workshops focus on:
- Becoming assertive
- Achieving goals
- Resisting peer pressure
- Participating in decision-making about life choices
- Practicing communication and listening skills
- Developing strategies to help students move on with their lives
- Helping students realize their choices are made only by themselves, not by others
They are great concepts presented in a fun and easy way to learn. Our goal is to for students to learn habits that help them transition successfully to being an adult with access to satisfying work, good friends, and a safe place to live.
